Depth and character in the light.
Italian decorative plaster covers a range of layered, mineral and polished finishes. A marble effect may have subtle colour variations or distinct veining. The product and application technique determine its depth, pattern and sheen.
Planning a feature wall, a distinctive entrance or a decorative accent? Share an example of the effect you like. We assess the substrate, lighting and finishing details before selecting a system.
Start with a sample panel
A small swatch cannot fully show the colour, pattern or sheen. A suitable sample panel helps you agree on the appearance and amount of variation.
Marble-effect plaster, Stucco Veneziano and marmorino
These names are sometimes used interchangeably, although the products and techniques differ. Stucco Veneziano is often chosen for a layered, polished effect. Marmorino refers to mineral decorative finishes that can be matt or satin, depending on the product and application.
Bold marble veining is a decorative design choice. Venetian plaster does not always have the same pattern or sheen. Agree on the base colour, vein colours, pattern direction and gloss level.
| Appearance | What should you agree on? |
|---|---|
| Soft mineral finish | Soft nuances, limited drawing and desired matte or satin shine. |
| Venetian sheen | The depth effect, reflection and manual movement in the plane. |
| Veined marble effect | Basic colour, contrast, vein pattern and distribution throughout the wall. |
| Metallic or croc-effect texture | Pattern size, embossing, color, shine and fitting finish along the edges. |

Decorative croc-effect and metallic plaster
For a more tactile surface, consider a decorative pattern. A croc effect has a repeating texture that becomes more visible in raking light. A metallic finish emphasises reflection and colour variation. These images show possible styles; a sample panel defines the finish agreed for your wall.
An accent need not cover the whole room. A fireplace wall, niche or clearly defined area may be enough. Match the scale of the pattern to the room and surrounding materials.
The substrate comes first
A decorative finishing coat cannot replace repairs to loose or unsuitable material. Check adhesion, flatness, cracks and material junctions first. A smooth, stable base helps achieve an even decorative result.
In bathrooms and other moisture-exposed areas, the entire system must be suitable for the application. A marble effect or glossy surface is not automatically waterproof. Discuss sealing, penetrations, maintenance and product requirements.
From inspiration to your wall
- Pick a direction. Show which colors, shine and patterns appeal to you.
- We're gonna have to review space. Discuss the substrate, dimensions, light and edge connections.
- Adjust the test surface. Make the desired drawing and variation concrete.
- Capture structure. Set up preparation, material, end layer and work boundaries.
- Transferring completion. Keep product and maintenance information and discuss the care.
Photos and style images help you choose, but a hand-applied finish always has its own character. Agree on the intended effect rather than an exact, pixel-for-pixel copy of a photograph.
How much does Italian marble plaster cost?
The price depends on the substrate, design, number of application steps, dimensions and access. A subtle mineral finish and a strongly veined marble effect may require different work.
These decorative finishes are excluded from the general price calculator. Request a proposal for your chosen effect and wall, with sample work, preparation and finishing clearly itemised.
Common questions about marble plaster
Is plaster with marble look the same as natural stone?
No. Marble plaster is a decorative finish that can create a stone-like or marble-like appearance. It is not a wall made from natural stone slabs. The product, pattern and sheen determine the appearance.
Can I choose a calm look without strong veins?
Yes. You can discuss a softer mineral finish with less contrast. Share examples of the sheen and variation you prefer, then assess a suitable sample panel.
Is every product with marble look waterproof?
No. Suitability for wet areas depends on the complete product system and connection details, not the appearance alone.
Can an existing structure wall serve as a base?
The existing texture must be assessed first. Adhesion, relief, flatness and damage determine the preparation needed before applying the decorative layer.
Are the images of marble walls executed projects?
The images on this page are style illustrations. They show possible colours, patterns and sheen. The options and finish for your own home are agreed separately.
How do I maintain a decorative wall?
Care depends on the product and protective finish. Keep the maintenance instructions and use only suitable cleaning products and methods.
