Comparing plastering quotes

Compare the total for the same work, finishing and tax treatment. A loose m² price does not tell the whole story.

A craftsman is working on the finishing of an external wall.

The answer to your situation

What should you check first?

Put two offers next to each other and check first if both go over the same spaces. An offer for only the walls is not comparable to a total package including ceilings. See if the surfaces are checked and if small parts, niches and high walls have been appointed separately.

How does this affect your choice?

The preparation often makes the difference. Ask who removes old layers, repairs loose parts and protects floors. Check that primer, corner profiles and the desired finish are in the price. Let also clearly record whether painting follows: paint-ready plaster has no paint layer yet.

Planning the next step

Then check out planning, accessibility, payment and delivery. A low price is only usable if you know what additional costs may arise. Ask for an explanation at an unclear setting post. Please arrange changes during the work in writing, including the amount and effect on the planning.

Practical checklist

  • Compare the same meters
  • Check preparation
  • Question for exclusions
  • Capture additional work

Questions about this topic

What should I compare in two plastering quotes?

Which agreements help to implement the agreement?

Compare quotes for the same scope of work

Do not directly compare the lower line. First check that both offers contain the same meters, preparation and final finish. A proposal including repair and protection cannot be compared without adjustment with just a finishing layer on a finished supplied wall.

Discuss these points for your home

  • Write down missing or abnormal work.
  • Ask for explanations on posts and additional work.
